Chang Qing 常青

Born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1965, Chang Qing’s artistic journey spans from classical still life and classical figure oil paintings in the 1980s to recent endeavors in contemporary ink figure painting and paintings based on nationally significant historical themes. Over the years, he has experimented with various painting materials and explored different expressive techniques, showcasing a diversified style. Throughout his thirty-five years of artistic creation, Chang Qing has maintained a robust creative desire and inner drive. He is a versatile artist proficient in oil painting, ink, pigments, and watercolor. 

Chang Qing excels at observing people, events, and objects around him. Adept at portraying the diverse aspects of life, his paintings are filled with the flavour of life and a sense of vicissitude, exuding authentic realism. Whether portraying historical figures, common folks, friends, or scenes from the streets, Chang Qing’s subjects become memorable images that are vivid, natural, and full of humor, leaving a lasting impression. With his warm and witty brush, he authentically records our lives and our era.

Chang Qing’s works are parts of the collections at National Art Museum of China, National Museum of China and Zhejiang Exhibition Hall.
